We live very simply, supporting our life of prayer as much as possible by the work of our hands. Much of our work is creative and artistic: spinning, weaving and liturgical sewing, writing icons, painting prayer cards, bread baking, and candy making. We also grow most of our own vegetables and maintain a trout pond. Because the work we are able to do in the time we have each day outside of prayer is not sufficient to provide for all our monastery’s necessities, Carmel has traditionally depended on the generosity of the faithful friends of Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel who help make our contemplative life of prayer in service to the Church possible.
We joyfully invite you to be a foundational part of our little Carmel by being an instrument of God’s Providence. We assure you that Our Lord who is never outdone in generosity will bless your kindness to us as only God can!
